Text QR code generator

Generate a QR code with any free-form text: a note, a quote, instructions or any message you want to appear when scanned.

Processed on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.

Type text to generate the QR code.

Encodes the text directly into the QR code, without transforming it into a URL or any special format.

Use cases

  • Adding a note or instructions to a physical product.
  • Creating a scavenger hunt with hidden QR messages.
  • Sharing a quote or short text in a creative way.

How it works

  1. 1

    Type your text

Enter the content you want to encode.

  2. 2

    Download the QR code

Adjust the size if needed and download as PNG or SVG.

Technical details

  • The text is stored in the code as-is; when scanned, the phone shows it and, if it looks like a link or phone number, may offer to open it.
  • Capacity: at correction level M it fits about 2,300 plain ASCII characters; accented letters and emojis take more space. More text makes the code denser and harder to scan; beyond the limit you'll see an error.
  • Download as PNG (128 to 1024 px) or SVG, which scales without losing sharpness for print. The code is static: it doesn't expire, doesn't go through any server and doesn't track scans.

Frequently asked questions

How much text can I encode?

A QR code can store several hundred characters, but the more text you include, the denser (and harder to scan from a distance) the resulting code will be.
