Technical details
- It builds a standard mailto: link. Subject and message are encoded so spaces, accents and line breaks reach the mail app as typed.
- Which app opens depends on the phone: its default mail app. If none is set up, the phone may do nothing.
- Download as PNG (128 to 1024 px) or SVG, which scales without losing sharpness for print. The code is static: it doesn't expire, doesn't go through any server and doesn't track scans.
- Error correction (M by default) lets the code be read even if partly damaged; levels Q and H make it more robust at the cost of more modules. If you print it on a patterned background, raise the margin to 4.
Frequently asked questions
Can I leave the subject and message empty?
Yes, they're optional; if left empty the QR code will simply open a new email addressed to that recipient.
