Automatically cut out a person from a photo using AI, without having to trace the outline by hand, directly in your browser.

Uses a subject segmentation model (U²-Net) running in your browser via WebAssembly to compute which pixels belong to the person and which to the background, without manually selecting the outline.

Use cases

  • Cutting out a person for a resume or team page.
  • Isolating someone from a group photo for a collage.
  • Preparing a person's silhouette for a design template.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the photo

Works best with a person clearly distinguishable from the background.

  2. 2

    Click "Remove background"

The AI detects the person and cuts out the rest. The first time it downloads a model (~19 MB).

  3. 3

    Download the cutout

Get a PNG with a transparent background, ready for a collage or composition.

Frequently asked questions

What if there are several people in the photo?

The model detects the main subject as a whole; if several people are close together, they're usually cut out together as a single subject, not individually.

How is this different from "Remove Background from Image"?

It's the same cutout technology; this page is specifically aimed at photos of people (resumes, teams, portraits), with content and examples geared to that use.
