Open and read a CBR comic online

Open a CBR file (comic archive in RAR format) and read it page by page directly in your browser, without installing any software.

Processed on your device via WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to any server.

or click to select it

A CBR is a RAR with page images. The tool detects them, sorts them naturally (1, 2, 10 -- not 1, 10, 2) and shows them one at a time. The RAR engine (WASM) is only downloaded when you open a CBR, never on other pages of the site.

Use cases

  • Read a CBR comic without installing a dedicated reader.
  • Quickly check the contents of a CBR before saving it.
  • Read comics in your phone's browser.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your CBR

Drag the file or choose it from your device.

  2. 2

    Open it

Click "Open comic" to load the pages.

  3. 3

    Navigate

Use the Previous/Next buttons to move through the comic.

Technical details

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP and GIF images inside the archive are shown as pages; everything else (ComicInfo.xml, text files, __MACOSX folders or hidden files) is ignored. Sorting is natural over the full path, so per-chapter subfolders stay in order too (ch2 before ch10). Each page is fitted to 75% of the screen height and you turn pages with the Previous and Next buttons.

Files up to 50 MB are supported, with at most 2,000 entries and 300 MB uncompressed, in RAR 4 and RAR 5. The type is detected from the content, not the extension: a .cbr that is really a ZIP (a renamed CBZ, which is common) opens just the same.

Frequently asked questions

Is my reading progress saved?

No, this tool doesn't keep a library or progress; each time you open the file you start from the first page.

Does it work with password-protected CBR files?

Not in this first version; only unencrypted CBR files are supported.

Why does it say no images were found?

Because the pages are in a format the reader doesn't display (for example AVIF, BMP or JPEG XL) or the archive contains no images. Only JPG, PNG, WEBP and GIF are read.
