Convert a scanned PDF (pages that are images, with no real text layer) into an editable Word document (.docx) using OCR, directly in your browser.

Renders each page of the PDF as an image, recognizes its text with OCR (Tesseract, running entirely in your browser) and places the result into a Word document, splitting pages into paragraphs. It does not preserve the original layout, columns, tables, images or fonts -- it converts the recognized textual content into an editable DOCX, not a visual replica of the PDF. Works best with sharp, high-contrast pages; it does not recognize handwritten text.

Use cases

  • Convert a scanned contract or report into an editable Word document.
  • Recover and re-edit the content of an old document only available as scanned paper.
  • Digitize scanned notes or forms as editable text.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF's visual design preserved?

No, this tool recognizes the text with OCR and places it into an editable Word document; it does not reconstruct the original PDF's layout, tables or images.

How is this different from PDF to DOCX?

PDF to DOCX extracts digital text already present in the PDF (faster and more accurate). This tool uses OCR for scanned PDFs, which have no digital text to extract.

How many pages does it support?

OCR is an expensive process that runs in your browser, so there's a page limit per document, designed especially to protect mobile devices.

Is my PDF uploaded to any server?

No, all OCR processing happens in your own browser.
