Technical details
- Between 2 and 20 files per operation, up to 50 MB each. If you add more than 20, only the first 20 in the list are kept.
- The result is a new document: pages are copied with their content, but not the bookmarks (side outline) or the original's metadata, such as title or author.
- Fillable form fields may stop working as fields in the merged document, although their visible content is kept.
- The final size is close to the sum of the source files: merging doesn't reduce weight. If you need it lighter, run it through the PDF compressor afterward.
Frequently asked questions
How many files can I merge?
Up to 20 PDFs in one operation, 50 MB max each. For more documents, merge one batch first and then add the result to a second merge.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without recompressing images or turning text into an image.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. An encrypted PDF can't be opened without its password. If you know it, remove it first with the unlock PDF tool, then use the resulting file.
