Technical details
- Pages are shown as a numbered grid (no thumbnails); PDFs with more than 300 pages can't be selected here.
- Selected pages are always copied in their original order, even if you tick them in a different order. To change the order, use the reorder pages tool afterward.
- Nothing is recompressed: text, images and external links on those pages are kept. The result is a new document: pages are copied with their content, but not the bookmarks (side outline) or the original's metadata, such as title or author.
- Limit: 50 MB per PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is the original page order kept?
Yes, the selected pages are copied respecting the order in which they appear in the original document.
How is this different from splitting a PDF?
Extracting creates a single PDF with the pages you tick, even if they aren't consecutive (for example 2, 7 and 9). Splitting produces several PDFs, one per range you enter.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. An encrypted PDF can't be opened without its password. If you know it, remove it first with the unlock PDF tool, then use the resulting file.
